The Stormwater section maintains any structure or feature that carries stormwater from where rain reaches the ground to a specific body of water, including street gutters, curb inlets, pipes/culverts, detention ponds, ditches, streams, rivers and lakes.
Stormwater System Details
Kinston's current stormwater system includes the following:
- 36 miles of vegetative waterways
- 16 miles of roadside structures
- 2,000 curb inlet/catch basins
- 63 miles of pipe
- 100 miles of City-maintained gutters
- 30 miles of NCDOT-maintained gutters
- 7 City-maintained detention ponds (BMPs')
