Major Turner is a lifelong resident of Lenoir County and began working as a police officer with the City of Kinston in 2008. He has advanced through the ranks, working in numerous divisions within the agency, and was promoted to Major in 2023. He now serves as the Investigations Division Major.

Education
Major Turner is a 2007 South Lenoir High School graduate and he holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Columbia Southern University. Major Turner has attended numerous leadership programs, including the North Carolina University Law Enforcement Executive Program, Northwestern University Supervision of Police Personnel, and Methodist University’s West Point Leadership Academy. Major Turner has also received a certificate from the North Carolina Justice Academy for their Leadership Certificate Program and Tactical Certificate Program; each program requires 400 hours of specialized law enforcement training.
