“Over the past several years, KPD has worked to strengthen communication and trust with our community through tools like the Tip411 app. We learned a great deal from that platform, and we appreciate the role it played in helping us connect.
As our city continues its renewal and resurgence, we are taking the next natural step, moving to the KPD iWitness Assistant on the KPDconnect SharePoint. Unlike off-the-shelf systems, iWitness was built right here in Kinston, with input from our residents and officers. It reflects our philosophy of listening first, solving problems together, and providing a simple, secure, and anonymous way for citizens to reach us anytime, from anywhere at zero additional cost. With iWitness, community members can share concerns ranging from suspicious activity to workplace safety or quality of life issues — even including photos, comments, and videos. The system not only protects your privacy, but also helps us assign personnel quickly and keep communication clear.
This is more than technology, it is part of how we build a safer, stronger, and more connected Kinston. And because it was built in-house, it is 100% 2-5-2, Kinston Made. On behalf of the men and women of the KPD, I am proud to serve you and excited for the opportunities ahead as we continue to safeguard lives, preserve order, and work side-by-side with our hardworking and caring citizens."
